App Store Compliance

Keep your app live in both stores.

An app nobody touches does not stay current on its own. Each year the stores raise their minimums, and once an app falls behind, the store can refuse its updates or stop showing it to new users. We keep yours current.

Add-on to any care plan

In short

App store compliance updates keep a mobile app accepted by Google Play and Apple's App Store as their technical rules change each year. Google raises the minimum target API level annually, and Apple requires uploads built with a recent Xcode and SDK. FIMM upgrades the SDK and dependencies, updates privacy manifests and the Data safety form, tests the app and submits the new build. It is an add-on to any FIMM care plan.

What we build

What we build.

A

Google Play target API upgrades

From August 31, 2026, new apps and app updates on Google Play must target Android 16 (API level 36), with an extension to November 1, 2026 available on request. We raise the target, handle the behaviour changes it brings and test on current devices.

B

Apple Xcode and SDK updates

Since April 28, 2026, apps uploaded to App Store Connect must be built with Xcode 26 and the iOS 26 SDK. We rebuild your app with the current toolchain and fix whatever breaks.

C

Dependency and plugin upgrades

Flutter, React Native and native packages updated together, since an SDK bump usually forces outdated plugins to move too. Abandoned packages are replaced where needed.

D

Privacy manifests

Apple privacy manifest files and required-reason API declarations for your app and its third-party SDKs, so uploads are not rejected over missing declarations.

E

Store forms and listings

The Google Play Data safety form, Apple privacy labels and other store declarations updated to match what the app and its SDKs actually collect.

F

Testing and resubmission

Builds tested on real and virtual devices and submitted to both stores. If a reviewer raises an issue, we respond to the review feedback and resubmit.

How it ships

How a store update runs.

Every update follows the same steps: read the new store rules, upgrade the build, test on current devices and submit ahead of the deadline.

01

Check

We review your app's current target API, Xcode version, dependencies and any warnings in the store consoles.

02

Upgrade

SDKs, toolchains and packages upgraded, with code changes for any behaviour changes the new versions bring.

03

Submit

Testing on current devices, updated store forms, then submission and review handling in both stores.

04

Keep current

Under your care plan we track each store's yearly announcements and plan the next upgrade well before its deadline.

Frequently asked

Common questions.

We got a target API level warning from Google Play. What does it mean?
Google Play requires apps to target a recent Android API level, and the minimum rises each year. If your app falls behind, you cannot publish updates until it is upgraded, and an existing app below the minimum can stop being shown to new users on newer Android versions. We raise the target level and fix the code changes that come with it.
Do you update apps that FIMM did not build?
Yes, once the app is under a FIMM care plan. We take over Flutter, React Native and native Android and iOS apps built by other teams, and the first update takes longer because we also need to get the project building cleanly on current tools.
What is an Apple privacy manifest?
It is a file Apple requires that declares the data your app and its SDKs collect and the reasons for using certain system APIs. Missing or incomplete declarations can get an upload rejected. We add and maintain the manifest and check that your third-party SDKs include theirs.
How is this service priced?
App store compliance updates are an add-on to any FIMM care plan. Care plans are month-to-month and you can cancel anytime. The add-on covers the yearly store-driven upgrades for apps under a FIMM care plan.
Do you handle store policy and privacy questions as well?
We handle the technical requirements and fill in store declarations based on what your app actually does. FIMM provides technical implementation and is not a law firm, so we give no legal advice about your privacy policy or the data you collect. Your lawyer should review those.
Can you add new features during a compliance update?
Yes, but we keep them separate from the compliance work so the required update ships before the deadline. Small fixes often fit into the same release; bigger features are planned as their own release.
Can you promise Apple or Google will approve the update?
No. Store review is run by Apple and Google, and the final decision is theirs. We follow their published requirements, respond to review feedback and resubmit.
